Your First Visit
We are glad to welcome everyone — whether you are visiting for the first time or returning after a long time away.
The pastoral guidance on this page is awaiting the rector's approval.
- May I attend if I am not baptised or have not been to church for a long time?
- Yes. Everyone is welcome at our services. You don't need to know all the customs — stand wherever is comfortable and pray as you are able.
- Do I need to register in advance?
- No. You can come to the Sunday Liturgy or the Saturday Vigil without arranging anything. Only baptisms, weddings and other services need to be arranged with the priest.
- May I bring young children?
- Of course. Children are part of the church community. If a child gets restless, you are welcome to step out for a moment and come back.
- How long is a service? Must I stay until the end?
- The Liturgy lasts about two hours and the Vigil two to three. If you are not able to stay until the end, that's perfectly fine.
- What should I wear?
- Modest, tidy clothing. Traditionally women cover their heads and wear a skirt; men remove their hats. If you don't have a head covering, don't worry.
- Whom can I ask for help?
- At the candle desk near the entrance, someone will show you where to light a candle and submit names for prayer, and will help you find the priest.
- What language are the services in?
- Services are in Church Slavonic, with sermons in Russian.
- Where is the entrance? Are there steps, seating and parking?
- The church is at the corner of East 13th Avenue and Prince Albert Street. Details about steps, handrails, seating and parking are being confirmed.
